Receive Your 1098-T Form Electronically
Students can access their 1098-T electronically in Cashnet by logging in with their NetID and password. To opt-in for electronic-only (paperless) delivery:
- Sign in to Cashnet with your Cornell NetID and password.
- Select Tax Forms from the menu.
- Select Sign Up.
- Scroll to the bottom of the Terms and Conditions, check the box.
- Select Complete.
Students must grant consent for others to access the 1098-T documents. To grant access to another person, follow the instructions below.
Granting Access to Others
- Sign in to your Cashnet account with your Cornell NetID and password.
- From My Account, select the pencil icon next to the user to whom you wish to grant access.
- Check Allow access to tax forms.
- Select Save.

Submitting Your SSN or ITIN
If you already have an SSN or ITIN, and have not previously submitted it, please report it by November 30 to the Office of the University Registrar using the following process. Do not send personal information via email.
- Take a photo of your Tax ID document (U.S. social security number or U.S. individual taxpayer identification number [ITIN] documentation).
- Save your photo in PDF format.
- Sign in to the Cornell Secure File Transfer service with your Cornell NetID and password.
- Select the Prepare Upload icon.
- Enter Sherri Masterson's NetID (sm922) in the To field and select Add.
- Select Choose File to select the PDF file you want to upload.
- Select Send.
1098-E Form
The 1098-E form is produced by the Bursar Student Loan office. For information about this form, see the University Tax Office website.
