Alumni Support

Congratulations on your graduation!

Although you may not be currently enrolled, we remain committed to helping you navigate your accounts!

A graduate who has a bursar hold on their student account will not be able to receive their diploma or enroll in a future program. Please see below for additional information:

University Student Loan Exit Interview

To comply with U.S. Department of Education regulations, students who received a university loan(s) are required to complete loan exit counseling. This can be completed electronically through Heartland ECSI's website! ECSI, your university loan servicer, should have previously emailed you with instructions near the completion of your degree. If you are unable to find these instructions, please contact us

If you currently have an Exit Interview Hold listed in Student Center, once you have completed this requirement, your hold should be removed within 1-2 business days. If this hold was preventing you from receiving your diploma, please be sure to email diploma@cornell.edu once you see the hold has been removed to request that your diploma be ordered.

University Student Loan Repayment Past Due

University student loan billing statements are sent out mid-month by ECSI. Payments are due by the first of the month. If payment is not received by the first of the month, your account will be considered past due, you will be charged a late fee and you may have a loan repayment past due hold placed on your student account. This hold will impact your ability to participate in future enrollment with the university and receive your diploma. The university will also list your delinquent and defaulted loans monthly with the four national credit bureaus. Further information may be found here: About Delinquency | Office of the Bursar

To view your ECSI account, make an online payment, or request a forbearance or deferment, please visit ECSI's website: https://heartland.ecsi.net/ For additional payment method options, please visit: Payment Methods for Loans | Office of the Bursar  For any additional questions related to your university loan, please contact us; we're here to help you!

Diploma Hold

Students who have graduated from the university and have unpaid Bursar and/or CornellCard charges that are less than 90 days old will still have an outstanding balance showing due in CASHNet. To prevent the outstanding balance from transferring to ECSI, Cornell's billing partner for inactive students with past due balances, please remit payment today!

If you are interested in setting up a payment plan, please contact us! We can offer an In-House Payment Plan up to 6 months, with an enrollment fee of $125.00. Once the full balance has been paid, you can then request your diploma be ordered!

Delinquent Account

Students who have graduated from the university and have unpaid Bursar and/or CornellCard charges that are over 90 days old will have their balance transferred to ECSI, Cornell's billing partner for inactive students with past due balances. If this happens, a collection fee of $200, plus a $25 service charge, may be added to the account. Finance charges will also continue to accrue at 1.25% per month on the unpaid balance. If the balance remains unpaid, the outstanding debt will be placed with a collection agency, such as Cedar Financial, General Revenue Corporation or ConServe, which will result in additional fees.

If you have received a billing statement from ECSI due to unpaid Bursar and/or CornellCard charges, and have questions regarding what the balance stems from, or payment methods that may be available, please contact Bursar Account Services

If you have received a billing statement from Cedar Financial, General Revenue Corporation or ConServe and need assistance understanding your charges, or have made a payment to resolve the debt, please contact Bursar Student Loan Repayment and Collections
